Inshore Fishing Charters in Sarasota, FL

Sarasota Bay is the home dock, and it is the reason this coast fishes on days the Gulf does not. Nine miles of protected water sit behind Longboat, Lido and Siesta, so a 20-knot forecast that shuts the beach down barely moves the bay. An inshore charter here is the trip that almost never cancels.

When the Gulf is flat you have options in every direction. When it blows, the bay still fishes. That is the whole argument for starting here.

The bay is not one fishery but four stacked together. Grass flats in 3–6 feet hold spotted seatrout over potholes on a moving tide. The mainland bayous and spoil islands hold redfish, best on a low tide when they push into inches of water and tail. Deep mid-bay holes stack mangrove snapper and sheepshead around structure. And the dock-light corridor along the residential shoreline turns on after dark for snook — that is a night trip of its own.

Bait decides the day.
