Nearshore Fishing Charters in Sarasota, FL
Nearshore charters out of Sarasota, FL — the M-reef series 7–9 miles off Lido and Siesta, tripletail on markers, cobia sight-casts and mackerel over structure. From $500.
What Makes Sarasota Different.
Nearshore is the trip for a day when the bay feels small and the offshore run feels long. Out of Sarasota that means the Sarasota County M-reef series — M-1 through M-9, in 40–60 feet, seven to nine miles off Lido and Siesta — plus Silvertooth Reef and the hard-bottom ledges from one to nine miles out.
Twenty minutes of running gets you to structure that holds four species at once. That is the whole case for nearshore.
The corridor from the passes out to the M-reefs is a named tripletail zone, and they are a sight fishery: run the markers and crab-trap floats, spot a fish lying flat on its side, and pitch to it. The same water holds cobia on markers in spring when the temperature climbs through 68–72°F, and Spanish and king mackerel over the reefs when the threadfin show. Trolling covers the mackerel; sight fishing is the tripletail skill.
Bottom structure adds mangrove snapper and the occasional red grouper without the fuel of a full offshore day. Official coordinates for the reef complex are in our artificial reefs guide.
This trip is sea-state dependent in a way inshore is not — check the weather and wind tools before you commit, and keep an inshore day as the backup. Five-hour trips from $500, licenses and tackle included.
The Trip & The Water.
