Cortez is the working fishing village on this coast — a commercial fleet, real bait, and the shortest practical access to the Gulf from the Bradenton side. Boats run out Longboat Pass and are on hard bottom quickly, which is why an offshore day out of here spends its fuel fishing rather than travelling.
